TPS - Black Screens On December 31st
On 31 December 2008 all the screens of the French DTH provider TPS (Television Par Satellite), will turn black foreve, and the merger with rival Canal Group will come into effect . Ever since it started broacasting, TPS was available from the Hot Bird satellites at 13 degrees east . Current subscribers of TPS who wished to be transferred to to CanalSat have have their satellite dished re-posiitoned in the last couple of months as the CanalSat service is available via the Astra 1 satellites at 19.2 degrees east.sofien72tu
CanalSat acquired about 100,000 new subscribers from the merger with TPS , but the dream, to become the sole DTH provider in France faded lately with the launchg of the new Orange service that launches officially today. The third DTH provider BIS is considered a fringe competitor only.
